Piano synthesis is an interesting an active research topic. A full piano model can be realised by attaching a nonlinear string to an orthotropic plate, via a bridge. A careful selection of the simulation parameters yields very realistic sound synthesis. In this paper, an efficient model is developed, allowing for near real-time sound synthesis.
Piano Sounds with No Preparation |
Other than simulating a real piano, the model can be extended by attaching various preparation elements to the strings and to the soundboard. This results in incredibly rich and organic sound synthesis, well beyond what one could try to do with a real piano!
